Four year old Alexia Jeane Myers, better known as Lexie, was on her way with family to the Rapides Parish Fair last October when another car hit them from behind. Lexie was pinned between the backseat and passenger seat, which resulted in a lacerated liver. She also had a contusion on the back of the head with swelling to her brain. She underwent many blood transfusions, but they could not stop the bleeding in the liver. Once she was stabilized, Lexie was airlifted from Rapides Regional Medical Center to Tulane Medical Center and was in ICU for a week and a half. There they stopped the bleeding and after extensive therapy, Lexie was able to go home.
Lexie is an outgoing lively little girl who loves all of her babies which include her collection of baby dolls and her real baby sister and baby brother. She loves school and speaking Spanish with Dora!!
Lexie’s grandmother, Beverly Sheppard, thanks volunteer blood donors for help0ing save Lexie’s life. |
