Summer brings on two new challenges in providing blood products to patients in need. Families are on vacation, and school and college students are on summer vacation. This means a lot of our dedicated donors just aren't around to donate. Also, the increased travel and activity relates to more emergency accidents. Blood usage goes up and blood donations go down. Preventing blood shortages is easy - just schedule.
