Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Donation

You could Be The Match® for one of the more than 10,000 patients who are waiting for a life-saving stem cell transplant. For many of these patients, time is growing short.  When you become a member of the National Marrow Donor Program’s Be The Match® Registry, you could be the one to save a life.

Becoming a member of the registry is quick and easy.  You will complete a registration form that includes your contact, health and other important information.  You will also provide four cheek swabs. The swabs capture the tissue that is tested to identify your HLA type (part of your DNA) for possible matching to waiting patients.

By signing up for the registry, you are making a commitment to:

  • Be listed on the registry until age 61, unless you request removal from the registry
  • Consider donating to any searching patient who matches you
  • Keep the Be The Match® Registry updated if your address changes, your health changes significantly, or you change your mind about being a donor
  • Respond quickly if you are contacted as a potential match for a patient

For more information about becoming a bone marrow donor, visit BeTheMatch.org. Contact Marguerite Allen to arrange a Bone Marrow Drive or to sign up for the Be The Match® Registry.

If you are between the ages of 45 and 60 and want to join the registry, it is mandatory that you sign up at BeTheMatch.org/join. Please note that there is a fee for those in your age group to join the registry.
